This parent program focuses on a child\u2019s everyday activities and interests as the context for facilitating communication.\u00a0 This research supported program helps parents become their child\u2019s most effective language facilitator.<\/p>\n

The More Than Words^{\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0parent program includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n}

\n
• Eight\u00a0training sessions for parents in small, personalized groups<\/li>\n
• A Hanen Certified speech-language pathologist leading the program<\/li>\n
• A pre-program consultation for the parent and child with a speech-language pathologist<\/li>\n
• Three individual visits for the parent and their child with a speech-language pathologist\u00a0 where the parent is videotaped using learned strategies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  \nFamilies of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or social-communication difficulties<\/p>\n

  What Parents Learns in the Program:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  Parents learn practical ways to help their child reach the following goals:
  \n1) Improved two-way communication<\/p>\n

  2) More mature and conventional ways of communicating<\/p>\n

  3) Better skills in communicating for social purposes<\/p>\n

  4) Improved understanding of language<\/p>\n
